Auto Repair Inventory Software for Better Parts Stock Tracking

Auto Repair Inventory Software for Better Parts Stock Tracking

Keeping track of parts inventory can become difficult when stock levels no longer match what is actually available. A part may already be reserved for a repair, consumed during a job, or written off, while the inventory record still shows something different. That is why auto repair inventory software should do more than simply store a list of parts – it should manage the entire parts flow.

MecMetrix inventory is connected directly to repair orders, so using a part during a repair and tracking its stock happens within the same system.

Reservations linked to repair orders

When a part is added to an open repair order, the required quantity is automatically reserved for that vehicle. This makes it easy to see the difference between on-hand, reserved, and available stock.

Automatic stock tracking

When a delivery is received, you enter the quantity and total cost, while the system automatically calculates the weighted-average unit cost and updates the inventory balance. No manual calculations are required.

Low-stock detection

A minimum-stock level can be set for each part. When the available quantity reaches or falls below that level, MecMetrix flags the item as low stock. This makes it easier to see which parts may need to be replenished.

Complete parts movement history

Every inventory change is recorded – receipts, reservations, released reservations, consumption, sales, write-offs, and manual corrections. The history also shows who made the change and what it was connected to, such as a repair order or stock receipt.

MecMetrix can also generate SKU-based barcode labels for parts and export inventory data to Excel.

With garage inventory management, repair orders, and invoicing connected in one workflow, parts are tracked not only when they enter the inventory, but throughout their entire journey until they are used in a repair.
